New Patent Uncovers Playstation Phone

June 4th, 2007 by Anonymous Blogger Posted in Smartphones & Tablets | No Comments »

Sonyericsson Rumours have been stacking up for ages around the possibility of a PSP like mobile phone coming to consumers world wide. Now, a new patent from SonyEricsson proves the phone is probably in development.

Playstation is one of the few brands that hasn’t been translated to a mobile phone so far as before we noticed Cybershot, Walkman and even Bravia models being developed and put on the market. In their most recent patent claim, SonyEricsson demonstrates the possibility of a psp like Playstation phone.

The device might be considered an improvement on the Nokia N-Gage as it allows users to play not only with two hands, but also fold it so it looks and works like a normal phone. There even is a widescreen position for all those happy consumers that like to watch TV on their handset.

The most important question will probably not be about functionality, but what games will we see. We don’t see or expect a UMD to fit into the phone, so downloadable games are to be expected so J2me is obvious. SonyEricsson does however have Symbian’s UIQ, which would increase the gaming power of the device.
