During the GDC, Namco announced their own social gaming platform as an answer to the popularity of Scoreloop and OpenFeint. The benefit of theirs would be the multiplatform strategy.
Unite would be available on iPhone OS, Android, J2me, PC and Mac but to date, Namco has only used it on the iPhone platform. Following the announcement, their Unite SDK was only installed into Pool Pro Online 3. This changed last week as the company included it in the Lite version of Pac-Man. With that move, the company signed up an average 400.000 users a day. In less than a week, it brought the platform 2.5 million new users. For the coming time, Namco plans to integrate Unite into the full version of Pac-Man as well as the free version of Pool Pro Online 3.
