Nokia has launched a number of new smartphones today. The most interesting one was actually the Lumia 610. The device still had the same screensize, but is the first one with a limited availability of RAM.
The device only allows apps to make use of 256MB in RAM memory. Next to cutting down on memory, the device also has a very limited 5 megapixel camera to get the pricing down. For developers, the limitations mean background agents are not available.
The release of this device is the most important reason for Microsoft to release the WPSDK 7.1.1 Update CTP. The new SDK allows developers to check the compatibility of their apps, but it is not possible to publish your updates app onto Windows Marketplace with this version of the SDK. If you can’t get your app working on these devices, it is possible to exclude them in the manifest.
