MWC: Microsoft Details Windows Phone 7 Updates

February 15th, 2011 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: Windows Phone | No Comments »

The first update with cut & paste and CDMA support is set to hit Windows Phone 7 in March. Later this year, Microsoft will also provide a big update that is detailed below.

Microsoft will be upgrading the webbrowser to Internet Explorer 9 in the hope to see more HTML5 web apps hit the OS. The company will also allow some form of multi-tasking. As far as we understand, this is still limited to Microsoft apps, so no big surprises there.

Microsoft will also include integration with Twitter. The OS is already tightly integrated with Facebook.

There will also be some nice Kinect (8.000 sold) integration where Windows Phone gamers can compete with those in front of a Kinect console. Check the video below for the details.

Right now, 30.000 developers have signed up for Windows Phone and the toolkit has been downloaded a million times and there are over 8.000 apps available.
