MWC: Arvato to Power PlayNow

February 16th, 2011 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Distribution | No Comments »

Arvato has closed a new deal with SonyEricsson in which the aggregator will power SonyEricsson’s PlayNow app store on several mobile devices from 2011 onward.

Arvato already took control over the German stores on several mobile phones from SE and that is to expand to cover the stores in twenty markets in Europe, Asia and the US. This deal might signal in the return of Arvato Mobile as the company stayed pretty much under the radar over the last two years. Until now, HandyGames and GlobalFun have been the main aggregators for SonyEricsson.

“The partnership with arvato mobile enables us to strengthen the Sony Ericsson proposition in the market by offering compelling content and applications to our consumers.” said Keisuke Kakoi, Vice President and Head of Services & Marketplace, Sony Ericsson.

“We look forward to showing our progressive approach and many years of international experience in establishing state of the art propositions in digital content. Our platform, a combination of top technical standards and pre-eminent quality in our content database will power Sony Ericsson and its great brand PlayNow™ with a new user experience. Our team is excited to rolling out the services with Sony Ericsson to other regions in the course of this year.” said Dr. Amadeo Rahmann, CEO, Arvato Mobile.
