In the past quarter, Motorola Mobility has sold 8.9 million mobile devices. The sales took another dive. In the same quarter of 2011, Motorola Mobility sold 9.2 million devices. Though sales are down again, Motorola did record an increase in smartphone sales.
In Q1 2011, Motorola sold 4.1 million smartphones. In Q1 2012, that number went up to 5.1 million smartphones. In other words, featurephone shipments went down with 1.3 million units. There was no word about tablet sales which reflects possible problems selling the Motorola Xoom. Motorola Mobility lost 86 million during the period.
