Motorola Atrix Blurs the Line Between Smartphone and Tablet

January 6th, 2011 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: AndroidOS, Smartphones & Tablets | No Comments »

Next to the Xoom, Motorola had another surprise in mind for the press. The company also unveiled the Motorola Atrix 4G, a smartphone with tablet capabilities.

Not surprisingly, the smartphone runs on hardware similar to that of the Xoom. It runs on a Nvidia Tegra-2 DualCore CPU at 1.0 Ghz. It also has 1GB DDR2 memory, a 4” 960×540 screen and is able to run in WebDock modus.

In WebDock modus, the user can connect an external screen and run apps that are typically built for tablets. An example is running Firefox in fullscreen modus. How developers are supposed to handle this is unclear at the moment.
