February 21st, 2007 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Game Awards | No Comments »

Motorola and I-Play have announced their plans for setting up a mobile games development challenge. There will be two technological categories in which contestants will battle for glory and a publishing deal with I-Play, a briefcase of Motorola handsets (I hope without packaging) and a set of I-Play games. The first category is best J2me game for the KRZR K1 and the sec0ond is the best windows mobile game for Motorola’s Q series of devices. Submissions to the contest are open until August 10th. The judges will be from both Motorola and I-Play as well as external partners.

Christy Wyatt, VP, ecosystem and market development at Motorola, said: “Aligned with the principles of our MOTODEV developer network, the Game Developer Challenge is all about enabling breakthrough innovation and creating the best consumer experiences.”

I-play CEO David Gosen said: "Gaming development is an industry that’s fuelled by creativity and this competition rewards that vision. It’s not only a great opportunity for developers to show off their talents, but also catch the attention of the entire mobile gaming world.”
