The Mobile Ubiquity blog has released the news that MobileRated out-downloads Orange UK three times. Time to look deeper at this news!
The blog reports that MobileRated distributes 750.000 games a month compared to Orange UK which sells 250.000. Richard explains this happened due to the fact that MobileRated games are free. He explains MobileRated shows that off-deck can compete with on-deck placement very well.
When reading through this article, a few things pop to mind. The first is that MobileRated is not speaking about UK only downloads, but global ones. So comparing MobileRated’s numbers to those of only Orange UK is not fair unless you would use Orange’s global download numbers. Also, 750.000 is nice, but other ad-funded mobile gaming companies like Greystripe can even top that number up.
