MobileGamesDB.com; standardizing the mobile games market

December 15th, 2006 by Arjan Olsder Posted in People | 2 Comments »

Redboss has clearly taken a good look at IMDB when they started building their MobileGamesDB. The website is still in beta, and still a work-in-progress, but their ideas about fragmentation in the industry are very clear. The Mobile Games Blog will closely track progress on this initiative and report back on it frequently as we feel this is one more step toward consumer acceptation of mobile games. For now, the call is onto all developers to start submitting information about their mobile games to fill the database. The website features an overview on how to create XML (mgXML) files with info about your games and how to submit it for inclusion. More information can be found on www.mobilegamesdb.com

If they can just link this to some services like those offered at clickgamer.com, so that people can also easily buy those games and revenue is send directly to the developer.
Making it a global shop / game-website with revenue streams going to the developers instead of all the middle-men.
If they don’t do it, I might just start a project for it myself in my spare time (asif) !

Obviously you only have little or none experience with Redboss.
