Marktplaats.nl is Hollands most popular site to sell second hand goods. Since a few years, it is property of eBay, which is also active in the Dutch second hand goods market.
Though eBay has several apps for its own service, and the Dutch market has several third party apps for Marktplaats, eBay has now announced it is in final stages of development of an app for martplaats that includes free navigation and augmented reality.
This announcement came from Jacob Aqraou, CEO of the eBay classifieds group during the The Next Web conference. The augmented reality bit will be much like the augmented reality browser Layar, which allows consumers to see what is on sale in the direct neighborhood. This functionality might however be limited to the iPhone 3GS and/or latest Android devices.
When an item is purchased on Marktplaats.nl, the app is also able to help the buyer navigate to the object, which should make it a full service experience.
