March 1st, 2007 by Arjan Olsder Posted in 1 | No Comments »

Magmic has anounced to release the 80’s classic Miner 2040er in the US and Japan. The game was a huge hit in the 80’s in those regions. The game received a graphic boost, but the classic gameplay remained untouched.

Award winning Miner 2049er classic returns as a mobile game on its 25th anniversary with publisher Magmic Games!

OTTAWA and VANCOUVER, March 1 /PRNewswire/ – As the exclusive
publisher, Magmic Games is bringing back this amazing 80s classic to be
released first for mobile gamers to enjoy, and later for next generation
platforms and popular consoles.
Miner 2049er and Bounty Bob Strikes Back, were huge hits in the US and
Japan in the 80s. Anyone that was playing video games back then loved and
remembers this great series, and its comeback is perfectly suited for
today’s mobile phones.
"We’re extremely excited to be working with creator Bill Hogue, a
legend in the video games industry, to bring these great classics back for
old and new fans to enjoy," says Phil Giroux, VP Business Development.
Miner 2049er, the first of this series to be released, will have two
play modes; the original "as-is" look-and-feel with all original levels,
and another mode which has embellished graphics and sounds. Same great game
play, same great levels and challenges!
Due to high interest in the return of this classic game, Magmic has set
up a special page where fans can get a sneak peek and sign-up for
pre-release information and news at http://www.magmic.com/miner2049er
The mobile version is expected to be available later in 2007 on
premiere wireless carriers first in the US and Japan. The game will be
available for the Brew, Java, Windows Mobile and BlackBerry platforms at
launch.
