Dutch telecoms giant KPN has closed yet another acquisition as it swallows pre-paid giant Ortel Mobile which is active as an MVNO in The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium.
Ortel was already closely cooperating with KPN as it used the networks of KPN owned operators E-Plus and Base. Ortel will use the acquisition money to expand it’s network further into Europe. KPN also runs a pre-paid brand in the Dutch market called SimYo. Ortel follows the Dutch operator Telfort which was acquired by KPN two years back. Recently, KPN announced to slim down the number of brands under which it is working on the Dutch market.
