According to the latest research of Flurry, the iPhone is gaining ground over Nintendo’s DS and Sony’s Playstation Portable. Other mobile phones are no competition apparently.
Flurry indexed the revenue numbers of the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP as provided through NPD Research and matched them up with Flurry’s internal numbers. As it turns out, 5% of the revenue on games in 2008 was made on the App Store. The PSP generated 20% and the remaining 75% went to Nintendo. In 2009 however, the iPhone is responsible for 19% of the turnovers while PSP shrunk to 11% and the Nintendo DS to 70%.
