Starting next month, Verizon consumers can finally purchase the iPhone 4. February 10th will be the official launchdate for the CDMA version of the device. The device doesn’t support LTE however.
The lack of LTE brings a downside to the iPhone 4 experience however as it is technically not possible to make calls and access the internet at the same time. The fact that a CDMA phone is useless in Europe counts as well, but Verizon consumers should be used to that.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Verizon CFO Francis Shammo confirmed the network will carry the iPad though it is unclear when.
“The iPhone coming to Verizon is a highly anticipated event by the mobile gaming community,” says Peter Relan, chairman of OpenFeint. “Adding 13 million more potential gamers on the iPhone is going to be a watershed moment for mobile gaming. I wouldn’t be surprised if the US mobile gaming industry doubles in revenue this year because of this deal.”
