IDC: 17 Million Tablets Sold in 2010, iPad Dominates

According to research from IDC, vendors have shipped 17 million tablet computers in 2010. From Q2 to Q3, distribution grew 45.1%. The number of iPad sales in that period grew from 3.3 million in Q2 to 4.8 million in Q3.

According to IDC, Apple owns 90% of the business but the Galaxy Tab is still the biggest competitor. IDC expects 44.6 million tablets to be shipped in 2011 and another 70.8 million in 2012.
