Yesterday, UPC owner Liberty Global announced a new settop box called Horizon. Though the system is mainly advertised as ‘the’ new way to experience TV, the new box will also hold an App Store.
Currently, 60 partners are already developing for this Samsung-built, Intel-based box. To get more developers in the ring, UPC will soon launch a special SDK. All information we have so far is that the box will support web-based apps and widgets. So we expect something in relationship to HTML 5, CSS and JavaScript.
