HTC Will not Acquire Palm

April 23rd, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Companies & M&A, Platforms: PalmOS | 2 Comments »

According to Reuters, a source within HTC has confirmed that the Korean cellphone vendor will not be acquiring Palm. HTC decided so after checking Palm’s financials.

The balance between the financial problems of Palm and the benefits that HTC would receive at a possible acquisition do not match up for the company. According to Reuters, only Lenovo is left as a possible acquirer for Palm.

At the same time, Palm’s CEO Jon Rubinstein said that the company might be able to survive by licensing their WebOS and cellphone patents to competitors.
