Sometimes, some deals are just a bit too odd to believe. One that might fall in that category is the news that HTC will be producing Playstation certified phones somewhere in 2012…
The news comes from Pocket-Lint (which often breaks new deals). The site states that HTC is one of the first companies to have acquired the license from Sony. The first announcements on this should be happening along the Mobile World Congress.
We have all reasons to believe the deal is unlikely to be true for several reasons. The most important reason is probably because Playstation certified is a unique proposition that Sony uses to strengthen its own device sales. The second one is that HTC has been underperforming lately and… HTC partly owns OnLive. Though OnLive has no global representation, the contents from OnLive are without a doubt much more attractive than the old PSone games Sony is pushing.
