According to a story from Bloomberg, HTC is playing around with the ideas of releasing their own mobile operating system or just to acquire Palm. HTC is currently ruling the Android and Windows Mobile markets.
Though the company announced in The Netherlands that it will keep a tight focus on the two smartphone platforms, there seems to be room for a third OS in their portfolio. By acquiring Palm, they will get an OS with a small development community already behind it, and they will get a solid foot in the US market.
