GamesOnDeck pointed us to news from publisher and developer HandsOn who
has released its HOMBRE (HandsOn Runtime Development Environment) rapid
development platform. This in the hope to redefine the consumer mobile
experience and revolutionize the way mobile games and applications are
deployed as widgets.
HOMBRE is a server-side, XML based development tool. Trough XML, developers are able to create applications and mobile games for any target device.
To entice developers to start using their platform, HandsOn has set out a competition for the best HOMBRE based widget. The winner is rewarded $ 50.000 The HOMBRE network (and we guess the competition as well) will launch in Q2 2007.
"From a developer’s perspective, HOMBRE makes creating rich mobile applications as simple as web publishing. HOMBRE applications and content are automatically optimized for any handset, regardless of carrier, without compromising the user experience," said Hands-On Mobile Chief Technology Officer and SVP of Product Development Michael Temkin. "By eliminating the need to individually port each application to more than a thousand handsets, HOMBRE cuts both development costs and time to market."
Congratulations
