Greystripe is introducing a new advertising model to a very limited group of mobile game developers called Pay Per Download (or PPD). This way, the company hopes to tackle the problems in advertising for downloads.
The company has calculated that generating a download could cost up to $10 in advertising. This has been calculated over CPC promotions on networks like Jumptap and Quattro. This would mean CPC for app promotion is just not working. Since Greystripe believes it’s network offers a far better return on investment (based on their new Flash Ad technology), the company will be offering a model where developers can purchase ‘downloads’ at $ 0,99.
“Getting app downloads has become more expensive than the app development process itself,” states Greystripe CEO Michael Chang. “We’ve heard hundreds of complaints about the current mobile advertising system and we are looking to move the needle for the App economy.”
This offering has been limited to 200 iPhone developers that are offering free apps or games and spend $10K minimal in one go. Though that might sound tricky, it’s very interesting for promoting LITE versions as well as ad funded titles.
Congratulations
