Though Google is pushing Android Market as the primary sales channel on Android, Google’s Eric Schmidt has apparently invested in PocketGear, another sales channel for mobile apps and games.
PocketGear has been selling mobile apps and games for about ten years now and retails on several mobile platforms like Windows Mobile, PalmOS, WebOS and of course Android. Schmidt believes in the potential of PocketGear but didn’t make the amount of his investment public yet. PocketGear did announce the investment to its developers and targeted itself as the best place outside the Android Market.
