Last Friday, Glu has globally launched the much anticipated Project Gotham Racing Mobile (also known as PGR). The PGR license started out on the Xbox and was sent out by Glu in time to get some nice quotes from review websites. Among them are IGN “One of the most anticipated games of 2007” and Pocket Gamer “The best mobile racer”.
“Project Gotham Racing is the number one action-oriented racing franchise, and PGR Mobile captures the high-quality gameplay with the style and speed true to the original franchise,” said Jill Braff, general manager of the Americas, Glu Mobile. “We’re excited to bring the first mobile adaptation of this award-winning franchise to mobile phones around the world.”
“The Project Gotham Racing franchise is loved by millions worldwide,” said Edward Ventura, Director of Franchise Development at Microsoft. “Glu has the demonstrated ability to capture the excitement of the Project Gotham Racing franchise and deliver a truly innovative and dynamic mobile game.”
PGR is one of the first Microsoft licenses not to be developed by In-Fusio who is in a heavy legal dispute with Microsoft over the HALO license for mobile games. To support the game, Glu launched a dedicated website at pgrmobile.com.
