Gbanga is a new framework for creating mobile LBS games. The system just went Beta in Switzerland and the first game to test it has been rolled out in Zurich where consumers are now hunting animals.
Gbanga uses the conventional GSM network. The benefit of this strategy is that GPS is not needed to make a rough determination of where the consumer is walking around. This makes the game accessible to many feature phones as well as smartphones.
In Zurich, consumers can already play an animal hunting game where virtual animals need to be returned to the local zoo. The game not only allows consumers to discover the city, but also to chat and trade their items.
With their framework, Gbanga hopes that consumers and developers will start using their Puppetmaster API to create their own stories.
