Gamevil has introduced in-game advertising in it’s Korean mobile games catalogue.
Gamevil kicked off their in-game marketing experience with Baseball Superstars 2008 where advertisers like Coca-Cola where inserted into the mobile game, displaying brands and products. In the first two months, the mobile game was sold half a million times. The in-game ads rotate every month, but the press release doesn’t say if the ads are downloaded dynamically, or are already in the game at the time of download.
To introduce the Baseball Stars 2008 mobile game into the market, Gamevil also invested in advertising themselves. They closed a deal with snack house HaiTai where advertisements of the game where printed on the packaging of 15 million Homerun Ball snacks. In return, the snacks are displayed with advertising in the mobile game.
“We’re really excited to have in-game advertising hit the mobile platform,” said Stephanie Huang, Marketing Manager of GAMEVIL USA, Inc. “Mobile advertising is the new wave of advertising that will begin to earn the spotlight as it establishes its presence not only in mobile games, but also on the mobile platform as a whole. In-game advertising is just one of the first steps to a rising trend that is already becoming more prevalent as companies begin to turn their attention to reaching out to consumers on the mobile platform.”
