FTC: Mobile Games Industry is Still Unrated

In their latest report, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) complaints about the content regulation in the mobile gaming industry. Primarily the US based FTC is concerned about the type of games which are available to public below 17 years of age.

In the document, the FTC urges the mobile games industry to use ESRB ratings to classify their content on operator / off-portal decks and also advertising. This way, consumers are warned about the use of language, violence and sexual themes inside the games. So it seems the industry is looking forward to yet another certification system which will burden the small developers that now have to create more room in their budgets. We wonder how long it will take until we need to have a rating system in every country.
