Froogle Goes Mobile

July 17th, 2007 by Anonymous Blogger Posted in Analysis & Editorial | 2 Comments »

GoogleMost of you already know Froogle and know it is a very smart and simple way to sell mobile games in several countries where Froogle is active. Now, Google seems to have interest in taking Froogle deep into the world of mobile content.

The special search engine should enable consumers to easily find mobile entertainment content like ringtones, wallpapers, themes and mobile games. This news closely follows Google’s announcements to take its Adsense program to mobile and sounds like a logical next step.

Mobile Entertainment Magazine explains that Google has not made any announcements yet as it has problems to index the content from key industry players. If Google would take the Froogle approach though, that should not pose much of a problem, even if there has to be a separation between wap and web links as Froogle works on basis of a csv file where webshop owners insert all the data themselves.

Moconews compares the ideas to Google’s music search where consumers can find full track downloads and purchase them and offers shops to pay for premium listings. Meanwhile there are a few alternatives when it comes to mobile games as Redboss for example has set up mobile games db some time ago.
