Mobile chat app Fring has chosen to compete with Apple on their FaceTime video calling functionality. Fring’s solution offers a few benefits FaceTime doesn’t.
Unlike FaceTime, video calls will not be limited to Wi-Fi connected iPhones. In fact, the calls will not even be limited to iPhones as it will allow calls to Fring users on Symbian and Android as well. The new Fring has been approved and is available on the App Store.
Next to making video calls to Fring supporting mobile phones, it is also possible to start video calls to MSN, Google Talk, Skype and other instant messaging networks. If consumers will finally start to adopt video calls is still highly uncertain. Phones supporting video calls have been on the market for about 5 years now and it still didn’t take off as planned.
Congratulations
