RTL’s FremantleMedia has acquired a controlling stake of 51% in Montral based mobile game studio Ludia. The acquisition follows closely on Endemol’s announcement to start a mobile and online gaming studio in the UK.
With the shares already owned, FremantleMedia now owns in total 80% of the shares in Ludia. The piece of the acquisition was not disclosed.
“Ludia is a leading creator of video games, and after building a successful relationship over the last few years we are delighted to fully welcome them into the family,” said FremantleMedia CEO Tony Cohen.
“Interactive gaming is an important way for FremantleMedia to diversify and this will increase our expertise and capability in this area, allowing both companies to develop even more successful consumer-facing entertainment across multiple platforms.”
