Innovation Works, an incubator formed by former Google China President Kai-Fu Lee, has invested in a company that is working on an alternative operating system based on Google’s Android.
The new OS is called Tapas and is an Android version that is highly optimized for the Chinese market. The company behind Tapas already signed deals with Sharp, Tianyu and Haier to make sure the China focused OS will reach the market once ready. Though not much is known, it is safe to expect the development environment is pretty much similar to the original Android.
