Flurry: Thanksgiving Results in 25% App Download Spike

December 1st, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Research & Stats | No Comments »

When the Americans spend time at home, they clearly spend it downloading apps. Flurry registered a 25% increase in app downloads during this year’s Thanksgiving weekend.

On Thanksgiving day itself, the company even noticed a 54% increase. The spike took a rather steep decline over the rest of the four-day weekend showing Americans love to exchange familytime for apptime.

In regards to new devices, Flurry noticed an 21% increase on Thanksgiving Day and a 57% increase on Friday. This was probably due to the nature of what the Americans call Black Friday. That day, many retailers provide huge discounts to get everybody shopping for the holiday season.
