Flurry, one of the leading analytics companies for in-game statistics, has announced its Flurry Privacy Initiative. With this option, consumers can choose to opt-out of the program.
In fact, consumers can even choose to delete all data that has been gathered through them. This is an option developers will be obligated to offer consumers as well as a clear and readable TOS that explains how the app is tracking consumer behavior and what is done with the data.
Flurry will also time-limit the data it stores, meaning raw data will be deleted after a certain period and exact location details will be defaulted to area’s where a consumer is located to ensure privacy.
With this move, Flurry opens itself to consumers, giving them a transparent experience which we as MGB can only endorse. Flurry will start with FPI on the iPhone around the summer. Android, BlackBerry and J2me should follow shortly after.
