Firemint has announced that Flight Control has sold 2 Million copies on Apple’s App Store in ten months time. With 2 Million downloads, this might just be the most popular title in its genre.
The arrival and success of Flight Control must have been a blow to Dutch developer LunaForte. These guys have brought many editions of Air Traffic Control to mobile phones since 2002 and released their title on the App Store after Flight Control took off.
It took Firemint 3 months to sell the first million copies. At its peak, the company generated 30.000 downloads (28th and 29th of March). The overall average it 6.000 downloads a day.
Firemint’s CEO, Robert Murray said “Flight Control has been an incredible success for us, and we owe that to the way people around the world have embraced it. Flight Control and Real Racing made 2009 a huge year for us, and we’re looking forward to revealing some brand new games for 2010 very soon.”
Congratulations
