Microsoft has confirmed the first launch details in regards to their Windows Phone 7 devices. The initial set of phones will support 5 major languages; English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.
Windows Phone 7 marketplace will be available in 17 countries; Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, UK and United States. This set of countries is very interesting as the 5 languages that are supported are often not the primary languages. Belgium for example is divided between French, German and Dutch speaking consumers. Holland, which also speaks Dutch and has English as a second language is excluded from the Marketplace.
It is also not clear if the availability of hardware is limited to the countries where the Windows Phone 7 marketplace is opened but it is certain that the first devices will be available at the start of the holiday period.
