Financials: Nokia Q2 2010

July 22nd, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Companies & M&A | No Comments »

Nokia’s looking for a new CEO and based on yesterday’s quarterly results, the company will need one for sure as operating profits went down 31 percent in three quarters time.

Even though profits went up in smoke, the income on smartphone sales went up by 12% while S30/S40 feature phones lost 4%. The Ovi store now holds 13.000 content items and is currently generating 1.7 million downloads a day. The Ovi App Wizard added thousands of new content suppliers to the Ovi store and pushed 1 million RSS based downloads in the first 10 weeks.

Nokia is convinced it still owns 41% of the mobile market, but Apple is growing fast and Nokia still doesn’t have a device that could replace the troubled but successful iPhone 4.
