Facebook has acquired Snaptu, a developer of mobile apps that focuses on the J2me market for feature phones. The two companies were already working on a mobile Facebook client for J2me devices. Facebook paid $70 million for the J2me developer.
Next to Facebook, Snaptu was also working on clients for Twitter and Picasa (Google). The company worked on rev-share basis as the apps promoted Snaptu’s own App Store and other products and services through mobile advertising.
