EU Prepares Apple Antitrust Case

July 6th, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: iOS | No Comments »

Dutch EU commissioner Neelie Kroes has announced that she will be conducting a research on platforms with closed app environments. As an example she explicitly mentioned Appleā€™s App Store.

Kroes said that consumers should be able to choose both hardware and software instead of being locked in to a single provider. She will also investigate other app stores.

Kroes has been very successful with similar cases in the past as she fined both Microsoft and Intel for millions.
