Good news for the guys over at Chillingo. The successful iOS publisher has been acquired by gaming behemoth EA. With the acquisition, EA will further strengthen its position on the App Store.
Chillingo is known for pushing a lot of successful titles into the App Store. Amongst them are Angry Birds and the newly released Cut The Rope. Chillingo also owns the CLickGamer portal and a social SDK called Crystal. To date, EA didn’t own a mobile social gaming network. According to speculation, EA is rumored to have paid $20 million for the company, only a fraction of what EA paid for facebook and iOS publisher PlayFish. For now, EA will leacve Chillingo as it is, though it will be adding distribution power to Chillingo.
