Dynamo Games Wants Premium App Store Channel

June 15th, 2009 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: iOS | No Comments »

Dynamo-games In a story about the latest and greatest from the WWDC, Brian McNicoll from Dynamo Games explained the need for a premium games channel on the app store.

The news about a premium channel on the App Store was brought to light by our friends over at PocketGamer who wrote a few stories on it. Over time though, the buzz seemed to have died.

In a recent interview with GamesIndustry about the announcements of WWDC 2009, Brian McNicoll from Dynamo Games grasped the chance to bring the subject back to the table.

The premium channel would be a very valuable addition to the App Store if we have to believe the developer. Premium games will require big investments and so should be protected from drowning between the cheap apps.

"If the platform is going to mature properly it cannot keep the current price points as it will not be viable for most games to make a profit with such a small price point, as it is only the lucky few that really can break through at that price range and make a lot of money."
