With over 10 million members, Hyves is the biggest social network in The Netherlands, though it is losing market share to Facebook. Hyves itself actually started as a copy of Facebook and is now starting an MVNO to compete with the US giant.
With the launch of the MVNO, the network allows members that switch to call and text other Hyves Mobile users for free (though limited to 1.000 units in total). It also offers a range of (sim-only) subscriptions to make calls and send texts outside the network. All subscriptions come with free mobile internet.
At this moment it is not clear which network Hyves is using and what options there are to monetize your mobile content through Hyves, but we will report on that soon.
UPDATE – Hyves has no plans to offer mobile apps other than their own and is not a copy of Facebook as both started in the same year.
Congratulations
