Duck Hunt Removed from App Store

It doesn't happen often that mobile games are pulled from the app store because of intellectual property claims. Yet, Nintendo has taken action to get a Duck Hunt clone removed from the App Store.

The release of Duck Hunt on the App Store isn't the first case in which Apple's QA department failed to do proper checks on the software that is being released. Earlyer, there where also several game and app releases in which developers (i.e. Google) made use of API's they weren't allowed access to.

Lucas Mansfield, the developer behind the game, confirmed to Macworld in an e-mail that the game had been removed from the App Store at Nintendo’s behest. “It’s an unfortunate situation, but I do understand Nintendo’s position,” he said.
