Draw Something Tops 20 Million Downloads

March 14th, 2012 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: iOS | No Comments »

In just five weeks after it has been released, Draw Something from OMGPOP has managed to pull in 20 million downloads and attract media attention from all over the globe as the successor to Wordfeud.

Draw Something is, just like Wordfeud, based on an existing concept. In this case it was Pictionary. The power of Draw Something lies in the same social element that boosted Wordfeud to the top of the charts, playing together while miles apart.

OMGPOP hasn’t put any marketing into the game, so popularity comes from word of mouth. With the players spending money to buy coins or get rid of advertising, OMGPOP’s bank account is doing a little OMG of it’s own.
