Distimo has sent out a special report in relation to the launch of the iPad late last week. The report shows that most iPad apps are games, but they are not as popular as on the iPhone.
The report (which is purely based on statistics from April 6th) tells us there are 2.385 apps on the US App Store. 833 (35%) of them are games. The entertainment category holds 260 titles and Education comes third at 205 apps. The least popular category is Weather with just 17 apps.
83% of the apps on the iPad App Store are paid versus 73% on the iPhone/iPod Touch. The average price of paid apps on the iPad is $3,61 compared to $3,55 on the iPhone. Education ($9.10), Healthcare & Fitness ($4.41), Music ($6.86) and Sports ($4.95) applications are significantly more expensive on the iPad. The iBookstore does lower the average price of books on the iPad.
Congratulations
