Japanese mobile social network company DeNa has invested several millions into OpenFeint in order to secure a 20% stake in the (competing) iPhone based social network.
This news came in at the same time that Konami owned Hudson Soft announced to be including Open Feint in their new Bomberman title that is expected to go live around Christmas.
DeNa explained that their gained participation in OpenFeint is purely strategic. DeNa is big with networks like MobageTown, but hasn't really gotten grip of the iPhone market yet. This means there is a lot of synergy between both networks that will surely be explored. As for OpenFeint, the investment could mean faster growth and so, getting rid of at least some of their competitors.
