Consumers Can’t Find Mobile Games

January 29th, 2008 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Analysis & Editorial | No Comments »

MoCoNews reports about one of the bigger topics of the Mobile Gaming
Forum, held in London last week; The fact that consumers can’t find
mobile games.

On the congress, two experienced mobile gamers, May Lin and Diogo Quintas, talked about their mobile gaming experience. They noticed that they found most mobile games by accident and the operator deck was highly influential fo their purchases. Diogo even noticed not to have been confronted with advertising for mobile games at all.

Christopher Kassulke, CEO at HandyGames, was amazed by Diogo’s statement about advertising. HandyGames is one of the publishers that is highly active in promoting their mobile games and advertises in different media like TV and magazines.

Also Xavier Louis, product manager for Three UK, was amazed. Three works with big publishers that invest a lot in mobile games. Three thinks growing the market is very important and stimulating off-deck sales is one of the methods to getting it done. He believes it’s better to own a small piece of a huge market then a big piece of a small market.
