It seems the race is on for Android. Namco and Glu proudly announced their first games, but Connect2Media is jumping into the market with 12 release announcements!?
The first of these titles will be available in the first quarter of 2009 and the initial releases will include ‘4 in a Row EX’, a fresh and updated version of the familiar and popular game, and ‘Classic Card Games EX’, a compelling three-in-one collection of card games featuring evergreen favourites, hearts, spades and rummy. Connect2Media will also bring a brand-new and groundbreaking, as yet-to-be-announced, multi-platform franchise to Google Android, details of which are coming soon.
Google Android is an all new open mobile platform that incorporates an extensive multi-media feature set that helps deliver an enhanced mobile gaming experience to the consumer. Connect2Media’s development of these twelve Android titles follows its mission of being a 360-degree entertainment company. The games will be part of a larger release schedule that encompasses true cross-platform compatibility including Apple iPhone, Microsoft Xbox360 and Nintendo Wii. This strategy will allow consumers to concentrate on the games rather than whether it will work on a specific device, making for a truly seamless gaming experience.
“The launch of these games for Android reinforces our intention to be a developer and publisher of high quality casual games for multiple platforms and it also shows our commitment to new and exciting ways of gaming,” said Eric Hobson, CEO of Connect2Media. “In addition to these twelve games we are looking forward to bringing other titles to market that capitalise on Android’s unique game enhancing features"
Connect2Media has confirmed it will offer twelve native games for phones powered by the Android OS when Google launch its content storefront commercially early next year. The initial releases will include ‘4 in a Row EX’, an updated version of the familiar and popular game, and ‘Classic Card Games EX’, a three-in-one collection of hearts, spades and rummy.Interestingly, Connect2Media says it will also bring a “brand-new and groundbreaking, as yet-to-be-announced, multi-platform franchise to Google Android”.
