In an e-mail to to Android Market developers, Google's Eric Chu has confirmed that the company is on track with the support for commercial mobile games and applications. The launch however, will not be global.
The payment services will only be available in select markets as Google still needs to resolve a lot of payment issues all over the world. To make sure that developers only put their commercial games live in countries that support payments, Google will add country targeting options to their accounts.
The fact that country targeting is added, will also be a bliss for IP owners. They can now sell branded games that are limited to certain territories while others can sell it in the remainder of the world (if they posses the rights).
With the launch of the payment platform, Google will not change the financial terms. Developers will still receive 70% of the end consumer pricing. The launch will kick off in the US and then roll out to the UK, Germany, Austria, The Netherlands, France, Italy and finally Spain. There are no commitments on other countries yet.
Congratulations
