China Mobile Plans Own App Store

November 19th, 2008 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Distribution | 1 Comment »

China-mobile
One of the biggest operators in the world is without doubt China Mobile. It is that operator that has now chosen to start developing their own version of the App Store in order to further stimulate mobile gaming uptake.

China Mobile has always been one of the most interesting channels to mobile game developers all over the World. Some say it was even one of the primary reasons for Glu to acquire MIG (A deal that might financially kill them in 2009).

Until now, China Mobile applied tight management of their content catalogue. With the introcution of an App Store like environment, the company might let the developers and publishers free to upload their goods as consumers will show what's hot and what's not.

Further details are unknown at the moment.
