Dutch developer Chainfire has developed a workaround for both consumers and developers to check Windows Marketplace in other countries. This allows developers to check the state of their apps abroad.
The developer created the Switcher out of frustration as the Dutch Windows Marketplace holds only 8 apps and games while the US has over a thousand. The switcher works via runtime patching. When going online, Windows Marketplace looks at the language and country the device says it's used in. The switcher feeds Windows Marketplace with alternative data.
With the switcher, you can't only visit the other marketplaces, but also download free apps and games. There is no confirmation if downloading paid apps is possible.
